Worn at: Otakon '01
Character: Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura. This is the outfit she wears when capturing the Illusion Card.
Construction: For the yellow dress part, I merged and altered two patterns together. I wore a white mock-turleneck with a yellow zipper down the front underneath, which I basically followed a pattern for. To make my skirt flare out like that, I wore a gathered tulle skirt under a 'petticoat', both of which I made without a pattern. I also sewed boning underneath the yellow skirt.
Accesories: I traced my hands for the gloves, and then added a wider part below my wrist to make them bell out like that. I sewed the matching lace along the hem. For my over-the-knee highs (can't see them in that pic), I traced my leg, and sewed lace along the hemline, as well as some elastic on the inside, to try and make them stay up. It sorta worked. The headband is a bridal headband covered in the yellow fabric, with a piece of wire attached and a pencil covered in yellow fabric poked through for the anttena.
