Worn at:Otakon '04
Character: The high elf Deedlit, from Record of Lodoss War, OAV.
Construction: Dress was made based on a pattern, using a green silk. It had an awesome texture to it,
and I felt it worked really well. Armor was, simply put, a pain. It's made from leather, and made without a pattern. The cape
is attached to it, so it takes some help getting into (and out of). I searched like mad for the 'perfect' orange to line it with, and finally found some about a
week or so before Otakon. Sword was made by me, with some help from Brian. He actually made the handle for me, and I just love my sword! We made a matching one for our Pirotess (Val).
Thoughts: Well...I love Deedlit. Always have, since I first saw Lodoss on Sci-Fi Channel back around 1995 or so. As such, it's hard for me to look at this costume openly. I'm VERY
picky, and see things I'm not happy with. Brian says it looks good though, so I guess I'll listen to him, lol. BUT! I hated the boots. If I wear this again, hopefully I can get them
to work better. They were better on Saturday, but oh well. It was a lot of fun being Deedlit, but I was surprised by the fact that more people didn't recognize the
character! I'm getting old I guess >_<
Also, I don't particularly like the wig. It looked ok in person, and in some photos, but in others, I hate how it looks on me. My hair wasn't long (or light) enough though.
